Chicago band with Luxembourg roots plays concert in Luxembourg City
In June 2026, Chicago-based band Devon DeLux, which consists of four members of LBA Section 3 and one member of LBA Section 15, performed at Place d’Armes in Luxembourg City on the opening night of the Fête de la Musique. This concert was the first of a two-part Luxembourg-American cultural concert series with Luxembourg-based band Zero Point Five. Both bands will play again at the 40th Annual Luxembourg Fest in Belgium, WI on August 8th, 2026.
The idea of playing a show in Luxembourg was first discussed three years ago at the Schobermesse festival in Chicago. Various dignitaries visiting the Schobermesse from Luxembourg spoke with the 11-member band after their performance and thought it would be great to find a way to have an American band with Luxembourg roots play a concert in the “homeland.” The logistics and cost of having this idea come to fruition proved to be quite challenging, not to mention getting the schedules of 11 band members and their families to all align. In the fall of 2025, the band agreed that if a show could be scheduled in June of 2026, there was unanimous consent to make it happen.
Through the assistance of Ambassador Nicole Bintner-Bakshian and other local Luxembourg leaders, the band made contact with the appropriate people in the Luxembourg City government to propose the idea of this two-continent concert series with Zero Point Five. Since the annual Fête de la Musique was starting on June 12th, the timing was perfect for the bands to play back-to-back on opening night. Zero Point Five played from 7:30-9:00 p.m., followed by Devon DeLux from 9:30-11:00 p.m. During Zero Point Five’s show, band leader Kiko Manichetti encouraged the crowd to stay around “for the next band from America that has more Luxembourgers than we do!”
Devon DeLux played before a large crowd on the plaza and educated the crowd on the history of Luxembourg immigration to the Chicago/Wisconsin region and the existence of Luxembourg-American organizations such as the LBA and the Luxembourg American Cultural Society. The audience included current and former Luxembourg diplomats as well as members of the Roots and Leaves Society. The band created a flyer with a QR code on it that directed people to a landing page with the website links to all the various Luxembourg-American organizations, including Roots and Leaves in Luxembourg. The crowd was very appreciative of a band with Luxembourg roots traveling from Chicago to Luxembourg to perform. Most did not know of the large Luxembourg immigrant population in the Midwest, nor were they aware these organizations still existed. Many came up to the band after the show to ask questions and thank the band for playing. A great experience was had by all.
Zero Point Five Performs!
Since 7 of the 11 band members were visiting Luxembourg for the first time, band manager and Luxembourg Brotherhood of America Grand President George Jones organized an all-day tour outside the city the day after the concert. The group visited Vianden Castle, followed by lunch in Echternach (the oldest town in Luxembourg), and then wine tasting along the Moselle at Domaines Vinsmoselle in Wellenstein. The band members who are not of Luxembourgish descent were truly amazed by the cleanliness and beauty of Luxembourg City’s Old Town and the vast green countryside and beautiful castles and wine region. They have been part of the Luxembourg American community for almost six years, playing at Schobermesse and Luxembourg Fest in Wisconsin, so to actually visit and play a concert in Luxembourg was a truly rewarding experience.

Devon Delux visits Vianden Castle!
Trombone and vocalist Greg Wojcik reflected: “The Fête de la Musique was more than a festival. It brought countries together. The streets of this beautiful city were alive with music. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for my entire family and me.” Greg’s son Jeremy, who plays trumpet, brought his wife and two young children to Luxembourg. “It was an amazing experience to be part of the Fête La Musique. It was my first time in Luxembourg, and you could really feel the appreciation for the variety of music being played across the city. Every stage/venue had people stopping to listen, even if just for a few minutes. It was a surreal moment for us, seeing the amount of people gathered in the light rain to watch a band from the United States, singing and dancing along through the last song. Also being able to share the stage with Zero Point Five on their home soil was really special. They are a great group, and we were honored to play with them.” Vocalist Nicole Pryzybyla added: “My first time in Luxembourg was exhilarating! The city radiates an uplifting energy, brimming with friendly locals, stunning architecture, and deep history. The absolute highlight was witnessing Place d’Armes filled with people from different countries, uniting to sing, dance, and share the universal joy of music. Performing in Fête de la Musique was a true honor, and I am deeply grateful for this unforgettable experience.”
Social Media Reactions to Devon DeLux In Concert!
Steve Hansen, guitarist, vocalist and member of LBA Section 15, has Luxembourg roots, and this was his first visit to Luxembourg. “As a Luxembourger and LBA member, it felt like a homecoming to a place I’ve never been,” said Steve. “Performing for a diverse crowd in the heart of Luxembourg City was unforgettable. From the stage, we were watching the people singing and dancing under the low lighting in the square with the Cercle-Cité building as the backdrop. It was an incredible experience.” Steve continued: “Beyond the performance – sampling the food, connecting with the locals, and visiting the historic sights brought me closer to my roots.”
LBA Section 3 member and drummer/saxophonist Jake Jones has spent plenty of time in Luxembourg, studying a semester at Miami University’s John E. Dolibois European Center in Differdange with his cousin and keyboard player Josh Jones. “Performing at Place d’Armes was truly a euphoric experience. It’s hard to find the words to describe how special it was to be on the stage with my family, too. I’m incredibly proud of my heritage, and I couldn’t think of a better way to honor and celebrate it. I know we made our ancestors proud.”
