Section 15 Member Steven R. Hansen Releases New EP “The Other Side”

Steven R. Hansen, a long-standing and active member of Section 15, has recently released a new EP titled “The Other Side”, continuing his work as an independent Chicago-based musician, songwriter, and producer.
Hansen has built a reputation within Chicago’s independent music scene for crafting guitar-driven rock music that blends multiple influences. His sound draws from pop-punk, alternative rock, and modern indie, while also incorporating elements of late-2000s “scene” rock with touches of thrash and classic rock. The result is a dynamic style characterized by dramatic pauses, powerful drops, and an emphasis on strong musical dynamics.
In addition to performing and writing his own music, Hansen is also an accomplished producer. He is the owner of Alto Echo Media Group and Big Buck Recording Studio, where he works with other artists to develop and record their music. His production style often mirrors the qualities found in his own songs—energy, emotion, and a strong focus on the emotional power of the arrangement.
Over the past several years, Hansen has released a growing catalog of music. Notable releases include the 2022 single “Keep On,” featuring musician Jon del Prado, known for his work with bands such as Like Wilde and Dear Chicago. The song reflects on the crossroads many musicians encounter in their thirties—deciding whether to continue pursuing music in the face of life’s challenges and industry realities.
Additional releases include the singles “Sink or Swim” (2023) and “Small Delights” (2025).
His newest release, “The Other Side“ (2026), continues to showcase his evolving songwriting and production style. The EP includes the tracks:
