MASS HONORING OUR LADY OF LUXEMBOURG Carmelite Monastery, Des Plaines, IL – Sunday, October 23, 2016
Members of the LBA came together on Sunday, October 23, 2016 to celebrate Mass with the Carmelite Sisters and to honor Our Lady of Luxembourg. This annual Mass, held at the Carmelite Monastery in Des Plaines, IL, was concelebrated by Bishop Raymond Goedert and Reverend John Clemens. Attendees were once again blessed with the beautiful, angelic singing voices of the Sisters at the Monastery, and had the opportunity to visit with the Sisters following Mass. Attendees graciously offered food donations to the Sisters through the pantry shower organized by the LBA, and the Grand Lodge once again made a generous donation to the Sisters of the Carmelite.
Everyone reconvened at Hackney’s on Lake in Glenview following Mass for more Luxembourg camaraderie and lunch featuring, among other dishes, the famous Hackney Burger. Special thanks to Jacqui and Chris Walton of Section 15 for their hard work in organizing the Mass, and to Bishop Goedert and Father Clemens! Be sure to join us next year for this annual Mass and luncheon to celebrate and honor Our Lady of Luxembourg!

LBA 83rd ANNUAL CONVENTION
May 15, 2016
The Luxembourg Brotherhood of America’s 83rd Annual Convention was held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Fairway Banquets in Niles, IL. This year’s Convention was sponsored by Section 7 of the LBA. Members from the different Sections came together and socialized with their fellow Luxembourgers, enjoyed a delicious lunch (complete with cash bar), learned about what the Grand Lodge and all of the Sections have accomplished during the past year and what they have in store for the future, and above all celebrated our proud Luxembourg heritage!
During the Convention, the Grand Lodge presented this year’s Stephen N. Heinz Memorial Award to Ricky Reickert, Section 7’s Grand Lodge Representative, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to both Section 7 and the LBA. Ricky reminded everyone that they are more than welcome to stop by Section 7’s Luxemburger Club in Aurora for any of their great events being held every week – please contact Ricky through the Officer Contact Page above for details on upcoming events.
Another highlight was the reading of this past year’s LBA Scholarship winning essay on Luxembourg’s contributions to the European Union, written by Alyssa Jones of Section 3. Congratulations Alyssa! The LBA Scholarship is awarded every year at the annual Schobermesse Festival. Please contact the Grand Lodge for this year’s Scholarship Application, and check back at the website for more details!
Everyone who attended enjoyed the afternoon and we look forward to seeing you all at next year’s convention!
